Building global credibility for a bold brand collaboration

The launch of ABSOLUT® TABASCO™ brought together two globally recognised brands in an unexpected partnership to create a bold new spicy vodka. While consumer appetite for hotter, more intense flavour experiences was growing, the challenge was to establish credibility for a collaboration that could have been dismissed as a novelty, while ensuring it stood out in an increasingly crowded innovation landscape. The campaign also needed to deliver a consistent story across more than 50 global markets without losing local relevance.

The communications strategy positioned ABSOLUT® TABASCO™ as a culturally relevant innovation rooted in shared heritage, craftsmanship and cocktail expertise. Global trade PR centred on thought leadership around the growing "heat" trend, a coordinated trade media programme, executive spokesperson management and proactive issues planning. A scalable global activation plan equipped local markets with messaging, media materials and measurement frameworks, while targeted trade outreach, exclusive media briefings and product gifting secured influential coverage ahead of launch.

The campaign successfully positioned ABSOLUT® at the forefront of the spicy drinks trend, generating widespread awareness and industry credibility before the product reached shelves. Globally, the campaign generated 1,518 pieces of coverage with a potential reach of 14.71B and 142.8M views, 57% of which included assets. Overall, the campaign generated 75% brand recall, and 12.3M hours of earned attention. Of which, trade earned activity secured 153 pieces of coverage across food and drink and packaging media, delivering a combined 31.3 million potential reach, 1.75 million article views, 931 engagements, and 65% key message inclusion across food and drink coverage. Strong spokesperson integration and thought leadership reinforced the strategic rationale behind the partnership, helping transform an unexpected collaboration into one of the drinks industry's most talked-about launches.
