Creating a walk-through billboard to Times Square
Australia is far away from everything, geographically and financially. So, when Australia’s biggest bank, CommBank, unveiled Travel Booking in their app – it brought the world closer than ever. But how do you get Aussies to book their holiday in their bank app? Which is the last place they’d look. Our solution was to bring the world closer than ever… by putting New York inside a billboard.
Out of Here Out of Home invited Aussies to step from the streets of Melbourne, into Times Square, allowing them to taste an authentic NYC hot dog from Johnny G of ‘John’s Famous’, New York’s most legendary hot dog vendor for over 46 years, in a fully immersive walk-through experience. It was the first time John’s Famous had left the states. And the first time a billboard gave people a hot dog.
The campaign delivered impressive results, including a 327% increase in web traffic, 191% growth in booking volume, a 252% uplift in NYC booking value, and 3.9 million impressions from a single billboard activation.
